One of my favourite activities is teaching art \u2013 especially one-on-one. It\u2019s a win-win situation. Both the student and I can totally focus on having a great creative experience.<\/p>\n
How does this work? Let’s suppose that you want to take some lessons from me. \u00a0First I will ask you to bring me examples of your work. But hold on. If you don\u2019t have any art that you have created or you don\u2019t want to show me anything that\u2019s ok. In any case I won\u2019t be looking for framed masterpieces, just an indication of what you are \u201cabout\u201d.\u00a0 If you are a complete beginner I will suggest a program which, although largely experimental, touches on some basics such as colour mixing, value (understanding light and dark) and composition. \u00a0We will also talk about what really interests you \u2013 for example realistic art vs. abstract art. Then we will have fun together creating goodness knows what and you will find out that you are interested in far more than you originally thought!<\/p>\n
The \u201cfun\u201d is, in my opinion, learning at its best. For really \u201cfun\u201d is creating without fear. \u00a0Fear is enemy number one – to be eliminated as much as possible. When we give fear the \u201cboot\u201d we open ourselves to truly enjoying the whole process of creating art. I have to admit though that this is sometimes easier said than done. In part it\u2019s an ego thing. Most people are proud of beautiful results but are not so keen on sharing what they perceive as something \u201cdumb\u201d that they have created. I say be proud of all achievement. Those less-than-perfect \u201cdumb\u201d things are the first steps on the road to better and better things. So let\u2019s get going\u2026<\/p>\n
